First Contact Physiotherapist appointments now available at Jenner Healthcare

Musculoskeletal conditions (conditions affecting the muscles, joints, bones and nerves) account for 30% of all GP appointments resulting in many referrals for physiotherapy.

By making it easier for people to access physiotherapists directly, patients will have quicker access to diagnosis and treatment, helping them to manage their conditions more effectively and recover faster, so they can get back to normal life more quickly.  This will also help GP’s to manage their workload more effectively, and reduce the need for look onward referrals.

At Jenner Healthcare our patients can already access the NHS Dynamic Healthcare website where they will find useful advice, leaflets and exercises.  They can also self-refer for NHS physiotherapy on the same website.

Additionally, the Government have previously promised that by 2024, all adults in England will to be able to see a first contact physiotherapist at their local GP practice without being referred by a GP.

Most first contact practitioners are physiotherapists with enhanced skills. They can help patients with musculoskeletal issues such as back, neck and joint pain by:

  • assessing and diagnosing issues
  • giving expert advice on how best to manage their conditions
  • referring them onto specialist services if necessary
Jenner Healthcare are delighted to announce that we now have first contact physiotherapist appointments available for our patients.

To book an appointment with our physiotherapist speak to a member of our reception team.  You do not need to speak to the GP or Nurse first.

Patients can also continue to access Dynamic Health directly, just as before.
